Working groups launching in September

We’re moving into the next phase of the Impact Valuation Hub: member working groups that add depth, richness, and more detailed practical tools for our members. The IV Hub was set up to help investors strengthen how impact is measured, valued and used in decision making. After starting with a masterclass series and developing the Impact Valuation Playbook from those lessons, these new groups will now tackle practical challenges raised by investors and deliver resources the whole membership can use.

Valuing social impact

Investors often struggle to choose methods, metrics and data that make social outcomes decision relevant. This group explores frameworks from principles-based to outcome-level, working through how to apply them in practice. It will also compare approaches across outcome areas and build guidance on when and how to use methods like eQALY, WELLBY, WALY and SROI, producing practical case examples and resources for members.

Impact valuation across investment stages

Impact looks different from seed venture to listed equity. This group examines stage-specific tools and approaches—from forecasting in early-stage venture, to impact-adjusted cashflows in private equity, through to portfolio-level valuation in listed markets. The aim is to surface best practices across the cycle and produce comparative tools and insights that members can apply in their own investment processes.

Attribution and additionality

Who gets credit, and would it have happened anyway? This group tackles horizontal and vertical attribution, counterfactuals and boundary setting so investor claims are fair, credible and comparable. It will share emerging methodologies, test them against real-world cases, and co-develop guidance that helps members avoid double counting and apply attribution more consistently.

New to impact valuation?

If you are early in your practice, our masterclass series starts in October. Led by Impact Institute, it works through the actions set out in the playbook while you build a case study for your own fund or portfolio company.
